Top 5 Keepers of the Past

1. Schmeichel- This name echoes around the world as one of thee greatest keeper in the world never mind the Premier League. He was Man United's ace keeper who won countless numbers of trophy's and kept them in countless matches with his amazing saves.

2. Seamen - A legendary keeper in the Premier League, especially with Arsenal fans who will always fondly remain Arsenal's greatest keeper. Like Schmeichel he pulled off excellent saves in his time and in England's net the ball rarely touched the back of his neck.

3. Peter Shilton - Another very famous English keeper who has earned the most caps by any England player at 125. This keeper started low down but worked his way up and played for Nott Forest where he won several trophys and was also given an OBE is his later life fo his commitment to football.

4. Jens Lehmann - This German keeper was excellent in the Gunners net and when he left in 2008 for Stuggart he was missed very much. But even at Stuggart he was an excellent keeper who last year decided to retire.

5. Niemi - This keeper was very underrated becuase he played for Pourtsmouth, but in m opinion he is a fabulous keeper. When he was in Pompey's net he was as solid as a rock and even at the age of 37 at Fulham he performed. Unfortunately he retired at the age of 37 due to a sustained injury.

Top 5 Keepers Now

1. Petr Cech - Cech is an amazing keeper who suffered a massive blow in 2006 whe he sustained a head injury. But this has not stop his passion for football an this keeper is brilliant. His saves are unbelievable and compared to most keepers he is brilliant, he specializes in open play situation but lacks at times from set play due to his head injury.

2. Pepe Reina - Another great Premier League keeper who plays for Liverpool. He like Cech is an amazing keeper who is brilliant for all situation whether they are one on one or long range screamers he can cope.

3. Edwin Van Der Sar - All fans of the Premier League know Van Der Sar as he is a huge legend at Manchester United who has saved their title race on more than numerous occasions. He is know 40 and set to retire at the end of the season but he will always be remembered for his unbelievable saves.

4. Gomes -Not many football fans think of Gomes as a fantastic Premier Leagu keeper because he is over shadowed, but believe me he is one heck of a keeper. He pulls of brilliant saves in all situations and his skill is clearly seen in games suc as the previous Champions League game against AC Milan.

5. Shay Given - This  fiery Irishmen is a very popular keeper who has fallen out of thelimeligh at te Eastlands due to the young Joe Hart. However, I feel he is an outstading keepr, who when t St.Jame's was a key edition to the squad.

Top 5 Keepers of the Future

1. Joe Hart- Although he was mentioned as a great keeper now, his age of only 23 means that he is still very young and in the future definetely has the potential to become one of the world's best keepers and England's amazing number 1.1

2. Szczęsny - Is a polish keeper who plays for Arsenal. He is only aged 20 but has been in net against Barcelona twice and has proven that he is a great keeper with bags of potential to improve further. In the future he will be a keeper to watch out for.

3. Ben Foster - He may be aged 27 but he is still young in terms of goalkeepers as their average retirement age is around 40. Foster is well known for some of his fumbles but overall his a great young keeper who in the recent Carling Cup match against Arsenal showed why he should be rated as a keeper.

4. Fraser Foster - This youngster is not known in the Premier League as he has been on loan to Norwhich from Newcastle. This 22 year old has very promising future. So in the future I believe he will be Newcastle's number 1 as he is full of potential and plays well for Norwhich from the games I have seen.

5. Dean Bouzanis - This 19 year old was a signing made under Benetiz as he believed this young keeper had potential. He has a bright future ahead as Liverpool has good training coaches, which is seen thorugh Reina, so when Reina retires he will be likey be Liverpool's keeper. It will be up to Dalgleish when he calls him up to the sqaud. Also, Donnacha C recommended Gulacsi as he is also a Liverpool youngster who has great potential.
